RETURN OF THE SWEET GLAM! FEATURING BABY BLUE SHIMMERY EYELIDS

Back with a full face of sweet glam! For this makeup look I really wanted to enhance the vibes set by the mini blue dress I created – bright, sparkly, clean and stunning. Also, as it was a lovely summer day I just had to ensure my skin looked totally bronzed and glowy. Although it took me a while to do this, I am very pleased with how it all came out. I even stepped out of my comfort zone for some parts! Read on to see how I got this look…

Right, as per usual let us start off with the brows. I followed my usual routine of filling in the ends and concealing them for a more prominent shape – now I know, they look ultra fuzzy and thick, but I kinda like this. For me it adds to the whole softness and sweet vibes of the glam look. Rather than opting for straight and super refined thin brows, I’m glad I went with this look as it doesn’t look harsh. Dark and fluffy brows? I’m here for it!

The other day my sister and I were talking about makeup (of course), and I explained to her how much I love the dark triangle effect. Okay, that sounds *seriously* messed up – let me elaborate. Picture an upside down triangle – the brows are at the top, then the two sides are the contours of your face, then finally meeting at the point for your lips. Dark brows, dark contour and a dark lip (I absolutely adore a good dark lip – favourite ever as you can see in my grunge glam makeup look). It all works together to form an upside triangle, and I was suggesting that its the most prominent features of the face because they’re dark and noticeable.

Every time I’m doing my makeup, I’m thinking of the dark triangle effect, and usually I want all of these points to work well and compliment each other, because they’re connected in the triangle (apologies if this is getting confusing – stay with me!). Whilst I didn’t want to go too dark in this makeup look as it’s a sweet and playful glam look, I still had the triangle in mind. My brows were dark yes, but they were also soft and fluffy. I used my bronzer as a base on my eyelids to connect my brow area to my contour area, and then finally connected my contour area to my lips. All these elements used the same tones of a warm bronzed colour, whereas in other makeup looks such as my grunge glam ones, it’s a much more darker and harsh shade.

So, to honour the dark triangle I used my bronzer mixed with a deep brown eyeshadow to work as the base for my eyelids. I then went over and began blending out a pale icy blue shade, slightly flecked with bits of shimmer.

Although my dress is an electric blue, I wanted to go easy on the eyes a little – simply complimenting the striking colour of my dress instead of making a whole ‘nother set of commotion on my eyelids. Nonetheless, I did go over it with my slightly glittery blue eyeliner stick. This worked perfectly for me because it is bright and a little bit shimmery. It looks as though it seamlessly flows across my eyelids, creating a noticeable pop and enhancing the blueish silvery toned colour palette I was aiming for!

Earlier I mentioned I went out of my comfort zone a little bit. As you can see, I wore strip lashes again! It had really been a while, and it honestly felt strange and heavy on my eyes. However, I loveeee how it made me look! Soft and fluttery lashes perfect for a sweet glam. I just wanted a little more *oomph* you know – some more *pizzaz*, especially to go with the long drop earrings and the little classy dress I sewed. This was the perfect way for me to elevate my looks and to really make it seem more like a GLAM look. I did also add a chunky winged liner just to exaggerate the shape of the lashes.

Whilst my lashes and brows (AND hair, thanks to the wind) all looked unrefined and a bit messy, I wanted to keep things simple clean and straightforward with the base. I went for my usual foundation, my fave under eye concealers, and a little bit of liquid contour to create better definition in the cheekbones of course. All products are listed at the end of the post!

Now, I DID go crazy with the Mocha Mami bronzer, so that I could achieve my desired bronzed and warm look. As well as with the Beauty Bakerie face powder to create more of an even brown tone. I LOVE how the face powder is tinted! It really helps make my skin look brown and gorgeous, and it is the reason why I am way too scared to try a white ‘translucent’ powder, or anything of the sort. Setting the liquid and creams with powder was always a must for oiliness and flashback issues. To keep with the sweet and soft vibe, I went for a red liquid blush and simply used a bronzed highlight, rather than streaking my face with gold and creating an abrasive visual. Finally, instead of going for my heavy two toned lips, I went light with the liner and went over with a clear and easy subtle gloss.

I, like always, totally adore the outcome of this look! I have not done a sweet glam look in a hot hot minute. My first one was quite plain and natural, and so I really tried to elevate this one. Of course I’m focused on different things with each and every makeup look, but I love how fun it is to play around with – expanding on the concept of what sweet glam is deemed to be. Hopefully it will not be too long until I come back with another look for you!

Thank you so much for reading, I really hope you enjoyed this makeup breakdown!Xx
